Traffic Safety

Ensuring Safer Roads in Blount County

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is committed to enhancing road safety for all residents and visitors. With partial funding from grants provided by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), we focus on reducing traffic incidents and improving overall road safety.

Focus Areas and Initiatives

A significant portion of our grant funding is allocated to saturation enforcement on U.S. Highway 129, famously known as “The Dragon.” This stretch of road is a popular destination for motorcycle enthusiasts from across the nation, and our efforts aim to ensure that everyone can enjoy it safely.

Community Involvement and Reporting

Traffic Safety Hotline

We believe that community involvement is crucial in addressing traffic issues effectively. To facilitate this, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office offers a dedicated hotline where citizens can report traffic problems and suggest solutions. If you notice any traffic-related issues, please call us at 865-273-5136. Provide details about the location, the nature of the problem, and specific times or days when the issue is most prevalent. If you wish to receive a follow-up call, leave your name and phone number, and one of our officers will contact you.

Education and Engagement

Community Educators

Our officers are more than just enforcers of traffic laws; they are educators and concerned community members like you. We encourage you to approach us if you see us on the street. We are always available to answer questions, provide information, and demonstrate the equipment we use to ensure road safety. Our goal is to build a safer community through education and engagement.

To request assistance with traffic problems in your area, please call our Traffic Safety Unit at 865-273-5136. Your input is invaluable in helping us identify and address traffic issues promptly. By working together, we can make the roads of Blount County safer for everyone.
