Maryville, Tennessee – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced that a Maryville man was taken into custody earlier today in Georgia in connection with an ongoing investigation involving sex crimes against juveniles.
Shane H. Rewis, 51, Lori Lea Drive, Maryville, was indicted on seven counts by a Blount County Grand Jury earlier this month. Rewis faces the following charges:
· Two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child
· Trafficking for a commercial sex act
· Three counts of exploitation of a minor by electronic means
· Sexual exploitation of a minor
Rewis is being held in the Seminole County Jail in Georgia pending extradition to Tennessee on his charges.
Investigators with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Rewis in May after two female juveniles reported that Rewis contacted them by way of electronic means with inappropriate comments and photos. The months’ long investigation led investigators to a third female juvenile victim. Rewis was indicted earlier this month, and investigators began searching for him. Blount County investigators, along with agents with the U.S. Marshals Service Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force and the Southeast Regional Task Force, arrested Rewis without incident early this morning at a residence in Seminole County, Georgia.
