Maryville Man Arrested After Investigators Recover Stolen Vehicles, Illegal Drugs At Residence

Media Release

MARYVILLE, TENNESSEE – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced that Sheriff’s and narcotics investigators arrested and charged a Maryville man during a search warrant Friday in which they recovered stolen vehicles and illegal drugs.

Michael Duane Wingo, 55, of Bolinger Road, Maryville, is charged with two counts of theft of property, maintaining a dwelling where drugs are used or sold, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (mushrooms), and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. He was released on bonds totaling $100,000 pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 am May 22, 2024. A female at the residence, Jamie Cheyenne Walker, 26, was cited with possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of Schedule 5 (gabapentin) and released.

Friday morning, the Sheriff’s SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team and investigators with the Sheriff’s Office and the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Wingo’s residence and a nearby building on Bolinger Road following an investigation into Wingo’s involvement in stolen vehicles, forged vehicle titles, and altered Vehicle Identification Numbers. As a result of the search warrant, Sheriff’s investigators and investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force recovered a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was reported stolen in Blount County in February and a 2013 Cadillac sedan that was stolen out of Carter County earlier this year. Investigators also towed multiple vehicles that did not have valid VIN plates to verify ownership as well as some vehicles with possible forged titles.

Investigators are continuing their investigation. Additional charges are pending.

The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force is comprised of deputies and officers with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Maryville Police Department, Alcoa Police Department, and the Blount County Attorney Generals Office.
