Maryville, Tennessee – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced that members of the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force, along with the BCSO SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team conducted a state search warrant at a residence on Six Mile Road this morning.
Narcotics investigators arrested Richard Martin Rogers, 53, and William Samuel Nelson, 36, both of Six Mile Road. Rogers is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance for resale (methamphetamine), possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance for resale (marijuana), simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (cocaine), and maintaining a dwelling where drugs are used or sold. Nelson is charged with delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and four warrants for violation of probation on prior charges. Rogers is being held on bonds totaling $32,500, and Nelson is being held on a $15,000 bond on the new charge and hold without bonds on the violations of probation. A court hearing is scheduled for 9 am September 18, 2024.
The arrests of Rogers and Nelson are the result of an investigation by the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force into illegal drug activity at the residence on Six Mile Road. As a result of this morning’s investigation, agents recovered and seized approximately one half ounce of methamphetamine, 118 grams of marijuana, 1.3 grams of a suspected opiate, .4 grams of cocaine, and items of drug paraphernalia. Investigators also recovered a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Blount County. Charges on the stolen vehicle are pending.
The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force is comprised of deputies and law enforcement officers from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Maryville Police Department, Alcoa Police Department, and the Office of the Blount County District Attorney General.
