Medical Care

Staff

MediKo has the contract to provide medical care for inmates. The medical staff consists of a nurse practitioner who is employed by the Sheriff’s Office, as well as seven full-time LPNs a part-time LPN, and a file clerk employed by MediKo. In addition, a medical doctor is on-call 24 hours a day.

Medication Drop-off

Due to the large number of inmates in our care, we will begin following the schedule below to allow the public to drop off an inmate’s medication.

Medication Drop-off Days

Any day of the week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause the families of persons incarcerated at the Blount County Detention Facility. However, this change has become necessary due to the time and personnel required to ensure that medication is accounted for when received.
